Tracy has worked in some capacity with the foundation since it’s inception in 1996. Her experience with being raised in Hunters Point in San Francisco has created in her a sense of responsibility to give back to her community. She is especially interested in programs that work with teen girls and foster youth. Tracy considers Take Wings as her “mission work” and is devoted to ensuring that the programs stay relevant and that they have impact. Tracy is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and is employed by Kaiser Permanente as a Project Manager in the Community Benefits Department. She loves hiking, running, spending time with family and friends and shopping!
Roslyn Gentry, MSWVice President
Born and raised in Vallejo, California, a community plagued with many issues including teen pregnancy, teen violence and teen substance abuse, Roslyn vowed at an early age to helping others achieve their goals. Roslyn received her Masters in Social Work in 1998 with an emphasis on Public Child Welfare and has been employed by Child Welfare since 1998. Sparked by a feeling that she had a lot to give Roslyn became a volunteer with Take Wings Foundation in 1999. Shortly thereafter she became a board member. To this date Roslyn remains enthusiastic about the mission of Take Wings Foundation and continues to be a vessel to execute on that mission. In her spare time she enjoys listening to music, outdoor activities, and spending time with family and friends.
Maxine has been a board member of Take Wings since 2012. She is passionate about exposing young people to countless opportunities and has dedicated her entire career to working on behalf of at-risk youth. She is currently the VP of Operations for Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco. She earned a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Lamar University and Masters in Non Profit Administration from the University of San Francisco. She has sat on a number of Boards throughout her career and is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. She enjoys running, hiking, reading and traveling.
Bianca J. BessTreasurer
Since the age of 14, Bianca has volunteered for various charitable causes. Through those causes, she had several women who were instrumental in shaping her into the woman she is today. Because of this, she has a strong desire to always give back to her community. Bianca is compassionate and dedicated to providing services. Bianca is a Senior Sourcing Analyst and is currently employed at Safeway Inc./Albertsons. She loves traveling, photography, spending time with loved ones and eating!
Native San Franciscan, Jo’Vel fell in love with nonprofit work when she worked as a Family Advocate over 13 years ago. Jo’Vel quickly developed a deep passion for charitable work, specifically with the youth. This resolve stuck with her through her Retail Management career, where she hires, trains/develops, mentors and coaches young adults for lateral moves professionally. “I’m excited to be a part of such a unique, dynamic grassroots nonprofit organization” said Jo’Vel. “I’m looking forward to working with this talented and dedicated team, continuing and growing the success of TWF in the years to come!”
DeMorya was a volunteer for Take Wings for approximately 9 years before becoming a Board Member in 2014. Being a native of Oakland, she has the desire to help teenaged girls overcome obstacles so that they can be successful in life. DeMorya is an Office Administrator and Transaction Coordinator for Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Drysdale Properties in Benicia. As an active member of True Vine Ministries, she oversees the Minister’s Wives Ministry and loves assisting in Children’s Church. Spending time with family and dancing Chicago Style Steppin are her all time favorites!
Carolyn Washington, CCPSergeant at Arms
As a volunteer for Take Wings for more than 10 years, Carolyn strongly believes she has a responsibility to give back to the community. A native San Franciscan growing up in the Potrero and Bayview-Hunters Point neighborhoods, Carolyn recognizes that the “village” is still needed to support the raising of our young girls. She believes it’s critical that our young women are given a fair opportunity to succeed. Carolyn currently works at Bechtel Global Corporation in human resources as a Compensation Specialist. With two grown sons, Carolyn now has time to enjoy traveling and is always seeking to learn something new.
Curshanda Cusseaux Woods
Curshanda Cusseaux Woods joined Kaiser Permanente in 2006 and is the Northern California Community Relations Manager. She manages KP Cares- Kaiser Permanente’s Volunteer Program, Community Giving Campaign and Reach Out and Read community involvement programs. In addition, she manages major event sponsorships for the Northern California region. As her career demonstrates, Curshanda is passionate about giving back, especially to youth. She believes it is important for youth to have access to the tools and knowledge it takes to become successful adults. When she is not serving her community, Curshanda is busy being a Basketball Mom to children Tyler and Chelsi along with her husband Tyrone.
